Which korean pdrn do you mean: the clinic injection or the pharmacy product?

In short Korean pdrn is a salmon-derived polynucleotide sold two ways: as an injection a doctor places in the skin, and as pharmacy or cosmetic products applied on the surface.

Inside Symphony Plastic Surgery & Dermatology on Dosan-daero, Seoul

The search term korean pdrn covers two different things: an injection that a doctor places into the skin, and creams, ampoules and drops sold in Korean pharmacies and online. The injection is a clinic treatment based on purified salmon or trout DNA, and the products are cosmetics with a smaller job. If you are weighing a trip, the usual worry is language: you want to know exactly what goes into your skin, explained in your own language, before it happens.

At Symphony in Seoul, the doctor who consults you also performs the treatment, one patient at a time in a private room, with an interpreter from reception to the treatment room in English, Japanese or Chinese.

Is korean pdrn one product or several?

Several, and they do not share a job. Three different things sit behind the search, and only the first is a medical treatment for skin.

The rest of this page follows the first row, and covers the second because that is where the confusion starts.

What is korean pdrn made of?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide: short chains of DNA purified from salmon or trout reproductive tissue, as a 2024 systematic review describes it. The material was first studied for wound healing, which is why the older papers talk about repair. 'Polynucleotide' (PN) and 'PDRN' are related names that researchers separate and brands use loosely, so the word on a box and the word in a paper do not always match.

Can a pharmacy cream or serum do what the injection does?

A cream is not expected to reach where an injection does, because molecule size decides how far a compound travels into skin. Dermatology papers describe a 500-dalton rule: compounds much larger than that generally do not cross intact skin, and the DNA fragments in PDRN are many times larger. Judge a PDRN cream as you would a moisturiser, a reasonable thing to buy with a different job from the injection.

Who a korean pdrn injection suits, and who should skip it

In short, it suits skin-quality complaints: dullness, dryness, fine crepey texture, and rough or enlarged-looking pores. The studies in the review above measured wrinkles at the crow's feet and nasolabial folds, texture, pore volume, elasticity, hydration and pigmentation.

For dry skin, hydration was one of the measured outcomes, but a good moisturiser also does that daily. An injection earns its place when texture or a crepey look bothers you as well.

A sagging jawline or a hollow temple sits deeper, and those are usually matched to devices such as the ones in our Ultherapy FAQ or to volume-building products. Lines caused by muscle movement belong to botulinum toxin, covered in our botulinum toxin guide. Scars and stretch marks are planned by phase, as the stretch mark guide explains, and exosome treatment is another skin-quality option worth comparing. For how a Rejuran course is planned, see our Rejuran overview.

Tell the doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have a fish or salmon allergy, or if you have a skin reaction or infection in the area. In general medicine these are reasons to postpone or choose another route, and the doctor decides after seeing your history.

What are the risks and side effects, and how strong is the evidence?

The published studies report mild, short-lived reactions, and the evidence is promising but thin. In the 2024 review, the mild transient effects were local pain, swelling, itching, redness and bruising, generally resolving within a week, and no severe adverse events were reported.

The same review covered nine studies and 219 patients, mostly from Korea and Italy. It rated the quality as low to moderate, could not pool the results because the designs differed, and advised reading the findings with caution.

So treat 'PDRN regenerates skin' as a hypothesis with early support. Individual response varies, and whether an injection is appropriate for you is decided by the doctor at the in-person exam. Home-care guidance through recovery is part of the plan at Symphony.

What a pdrn treatment in Korea looks like at Symphony

You can start before you buy a flight. With a photo consultation, you send clear photos and your dates on WhatsApp, and the doctor replies in your language with the treatments worth considering for your concern and a rough cost range. The exact treatment, amount and quote are decided when the doctor examines you in person at the clinic, because lighting and camera correction change how skin looks in a photo.

Three things on the clinic side matter for a pdrn treatment in Korea. Consultation, skin measurement, the plan, the procedure and the follow-up are handled by the same physician. The room is closed and yours for the visit. And Symphony is registered with Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare as a medical institution permitted to treat international patients, which you can verify on Medical Korea.

The clinic is at 2F, 165 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, about a ten-minute walk from Sinsa Station (Line 3) Exit 8. Hours are weekdays 10:00-19:00 and Saturday 10:00-17:00, closed Sundays and Korean public holidays, so check the days around Lunar New Year and Chuseok before booking a flight. The location and hours page has the details, and the medical team page lists the four physicians.

If you already use a PDRN product, send a photo of its label and one daylight photo of your skin on WhatsApp, plus any injections or lasers you have had and roughly when. The doctor reads them and replies with whether a polynucleotide injection would add anything to what you already do, and how many days in Seoul the plan needs.

Questions patients ask us

Are pdrn eye drops from Korean pharmacies a skin treatment?

No. Eye drops are an ophthalmic product for the surface of the eye, and they sit outside what a skin clinic treats. Ask an eye doctor or a pharmacist about them. The injectable we offer is for skin only.

Is Rejuran the same thing as PDRN?

Rejuran Healer is the product name on Symphony's treatment menu, and it is a polynucleotide injectable. Clinics and brands use 'PN' and 'PDRN' loosely, while research papers separate the two terms. If a name on a box is unclear, ask the doctor which material is actually injected.

Do I need to speak Korean to have a PDRN injection in Korea?

At Symphony an interpreter stays with you from reception to the treatment room, in English, Japanese or Chinese. The doctor who consults you is the one who performs the treatment, so the explanation you hear is the plan that is carried out.

What if I have a fish or salmon allergy?

The material is derived from salmon or trout, so mention any fish allergy when you first write. The doctor reviews your history and decides whether this route is appropriate or whether another option fits better.

How do I tell whether a korean pdrn ad describes an injection or a cosmetic?

Look for who administers it and where. An injection is given by a physician in a medical institution, while a cosmetic is applied by you or a beauty venue. Symphony's registration for international patients can be checked on Medical Korea.
