Rejuran Healer, word by word: PN, PDRN, blebs and the names on the box

In short Rejuran Healer is a skin booster: polynucleotide (PN), purified DNA fragments usually from salmon, injected into the dermis in many small points to work on texture and fine lines. It does not lift or add volume.

Rejuran Healer is a brand name, and the word "healer" in it nods to wound-repair research rather than to anything it promises. The syringe holds polynucleotide (PN), short purified fragments of DNA usually taken from salmon, which a doctor places in the dermis through many small injections.

It is classed as a skin booster: it aims at texture, fine crepey lines and how well skin holds moisture, and it does not lift a jawline or fill a hollow. Our Rejuran Healer treatment page sets out how it sits among the other injectables we use.

If you are in your fifties or sixties, or you are reading this because you are arranging a Seoul trip for a parent, the consultation comes with its own vocabulary: PN, PDRN, intradermal, bleb, booster, interval. Below are those words grouped by when you are likely to hear them, with what each one means for the decision in front of you. For a broader first look at the treatment, our overview of Rejuran as a non-filler treatment covers that ground.

What is Rejuran Healer actually made of?

Polynucleotide. Rejuran Healer's active ingredient is a chain of DNA fragments purified from fish, usually salmon, suspended in a gel that goes into the dermis. Three more words tend to travel with it.

  • PN (polynucleotide). Longer DNA chains. A 2025 review in Pharmaceutics comparing the two families describes PN as forming a water-holding, scaffold-like gel in tissue, which is part of why it is used for skin quality.
  • PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide). Shorter fragments from the same source, studied first in tissue repair. The same review describes its effect mainly through adenosine A2A receptor signaling. You will see PDRN on some product labels and in older articles; it is a relative of PN, not a synonym.
  • "Healer". The name nods to that repair research. A 2021 review in Pharmaceuticals collects the evidence on PDRN and impaired wound healing. Healthy facial skin is a different setting, so read the name as history rather than a claim.

In practice, nothing in the syringe is meant to add volume. If the complaint is a hollow cheek or a deep fold, the conversation moves to a different product. If you have also been reading about Juvelook, how Rejuran and Juvelook answer different complaints sets the two side by side.

Healer, S, HB and i are names on different boxes

Rejuran Healer is the original formulation; the letters on other Rejuran names mark separate products from the same manufacturer. At Symphony, the booster menu lists Rejuran Healer, and that is the product this page describes.

In marketing material the other names are usually described this way:

  • Rejuran i for the thin skin around the eyes
  • Rejuran S for depressed scars
  • Rejuran HB as PN combined with hyaluronic acid

Those descriptions come from how the products are sold, and they vary between countries. Treat them as names to ask about, not a menu to order from. If you arrive with a screenshot of a different Rejuran product, the useful question for the doctor is which area of your face needs help and why, and only then which formulation fits it.

Is a skin booster the right tool for a face in its fifties or sixties?

Sometimes. A skin booster such as Rejuran Healer works on the quality of the skin itself: fine lines, a crepey surface, dryness, dullness. It does not raise tissue that has descended. Many faces past fifty have both problems, and which one bothers the person decides where to start.

At Symphony, skin type, thickness and condition are assessed at the start of the visit, and what the skin analyzer measures is kept on file. The doctor is reading two things side by side.

One is the surface: whether fine lines under the eyes and across the cheeks stay when the skin is gently stretched, how dry and thin it looks. The other is the contour: whether the jawline and the area beside the mouth have dropped.

If the surface is fine-lined and dry while the contour is holding, a booster is close to the complaint. If the main complaint is a softened jawline and the surface looks reasonable, a booster alone is unlikely to change what the person sees in the mirror.

That second case is where lifting comes in, and lifting is chosen by layer: Ultherapy PRIME for the SMAS, Thermage FLX across the dermis, Sofwave in the mid dermis, EMFACE for the muscle. What Ultherapy does and who it fits explains the deepest of those.

Boosters and lifting are often discussed together for older skin, and the order is a decision for the consultation. Our skin booster center lists five boosters, including Symphony Custom Booster, Rejuran Healer and Exosome, and one of the others may suit a particular skin better.

Intradermal, blebs and numbing: words for the appointment itself

Intradermal means the injection sits in the dermis, the layer just under the surface, not in fat or muscle. A bleb is the small raised bump each injection point leaves behind. With Rejuran Healer the treated area can look dotted with these bumps for a short time afterwards, which is the detail that surprises people more than the needle.

Other words you may hear in the room:

  • Topical cream. A numbing cream applied before the injections. At Symphony, AirNox and topical cream are both on hand, and which one is used depends on the treatment and on your skin that day.
  • Micro-injection. Many small, shallow injections rather than a few deep ones. This is why the treatment takes the form of a grid of points.

At Symphony the doctor who consulted with you writes the plan and performs the treatment, and an interpreter stays with you from reception to the treatment room, in English, Japanese or Chinese. For a nervous parent, hearing these words explained in their own language by the same people from start to finish tends to matter more than the words themselves.

What are the risks and side effects of Rejuran Healer?

The common ones are local and short-lived: redness, swelling, the small bumps from each injection, tenderness and occasional bruising. A systematic review of polynucleotides in esthetic medicine, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, found the reported adverse events were mainly mild and transient, while noting that the evidence base is still limited and better trials are needed.

What raises the stakes, and what to say before anything is injected:

  • Blood thinners and supplements that affect bleeding. These make bruising more likely. Bring a written list of every medicine, in English, rather than relying on memory at the desk.
  • Fish or seafood allergy. The DNA is purified, but the source is fish, so mention any allergy.
  • Active infection, cold sores or inflamed acne in the area. Treatment is usually postponed until the skin has settled.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Usually postponed, because these groups are not studied.
  • Autoimmune or skin conditions, and recent treatments in the same area. These change the plan, sometimes the timing.

Once you are home, the line between normal and not normal looks like this:

What you notice / What it usually means / What to do
What you noticeWhat it usually meansWhat to do
Small bumps, mild redness, slight swelling in the first daysExpected after many small injectionsKeep the area clean and follow the aftercare given on the day
A bruise that spreads but is not painfulCommon, more so with blood thinnersTell the clinic so it is in your record
Increasing pain, heat, pus or feverPossible infectionSee a doctor at home promptly, then tell the clinic

Skin varies a great deal between people, and the in-person exam is what decides whether Rejuran Healer suits a particular face.

Sessions and intervals once you are back home

Polynucleotide studies usually give a series of sessions spaced weeks apart rather than a single injection, and change in skin quality is described as gradual.

A 2026 real-life assessment in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology looked at polynucleotides in routine practice rather than in a trial setting, which is closer to the way most people actually receive them. How many sessions and how far apart is decided at consultation, and for anyone flying in, the real question is whether the series fits the trips.

If you live abroad, it is simplest to treat each session as its own visit to Seoul, unless a longer stay happens to cover the gap between two sessions. Some people line the series up with trips they are already making; either way, know the interval before you buy the flights.

  • Session interval. The gap between sessions. Ask for it in weeks and compare it with your travel calendar before the first injection, not after.
  • Open chart. I would rather you know what was done at each session than have to remember it. At Symphony treatment records are opened and shared with you, and a planner stays with you from the first consultation.
  • Skin analyzer record. What is measured is kept on file, so the next session starts from the last one.

For return visits, the clinic is in the Sinsa Hill Building, 165 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, with dermatology on the second floor. It is about a 10-minute walk from Sinsa Station (Line 3) Exit 8, and our directions and opening hours page has the details. Hours are 10:00-19:00 on weekdays and 10:00-17:00 on Saturday, closed Sundays and Korean public holidays, which matters if a follow-up session has to fit a weekend trip.

What should you ask if you're booking Rejuran Healer for a parent?

Ask the questions your parent might not: what this will and will not change for their skin, which medicines to keep or pause, how the face will look on the first evening, and when a second session would fall. A short list helps, because consultations move faster than people expect.

  • What is the main complaint, in my parent's words, and does a skin booster reach it?
  • Would lifting, a different booster, or nothing at all be closer to that complaint?
  • Which medicines on this list matter for injections?
  • What will the treated area look like tonight and tomorrow morning?
  • How many sessions, how far apart, and can the plan stop after one?

Four physicians practice at Symphony, and which one is available depends on the date and the treatment; if you would like a particular doctor, say so when you book. The medical team page lists what each physician holds, and Symphony's English site has the WhatsApp contact.

If you are arranging this for a parent, the most useful thing to send on WhatsApp is a daylight photo of the area that bothers them, without makeup, together with their list of current medicines. The conversation on WhatsApp is one-on-one, and it is a place to talk through whether Rejuran Healer is close to the complaint, or whether the first conversation belongs somewhere else.

Questions patients ask us

Is Rejuran Healer the same as a salmon DNA injection?

Yes, that is what people usually mean by the phrase. Rejuran Healer contains polynucleotide, DNA fragments purified from fish such as salmon. Mention any fish or seafood allergy at consultation.

Does Rejuran Healer hurt?

Many small injections into the dermis are felt as a series of pricks, and sensitivity varies from person to person. At Symphony, AirNox and topical cream are both on hand, and which is used depends on the treatment and on your skin that day.

Can I fly home the day after Rejuran Healer?

Flying is rarely the issue; visible bumps and the timing of the next session are. Small bumps and redness can still show the next day. Confirm your travel plan with the doctor after the injection.

When do Rejuran Healer results show?

Change in skin quality is described in studies as gradual and usually assessed after a series of sessions rather than one. How many sessions suit your skin is decided at consultation.

Can Rejuran Healer be combined with Thermage or Ultherapy?

Boosters and lifting devices answer different problems, so they are often discussed together for older skin. Whether to combine them, and in which order, depends on the skin reading at the start of the visit.

Is Rejuran Healer too mild for someone in their sixties?

Age alone does not decide it. If the main complaint is fine lines, dryness or a crepey surface, a skin booster is close to it. If the complaint is sagging, a booster alone is unlikely to change it.
